Way to Root Pixel Devices running Android 13 via Magisk

Get Android SDK

First of all, get the Android SDK on your computer. Actually, this is the official ADB & Fastboot binary which is offered by Google & is the only recommended one. Install it & then bring it out to any suitable location on your Personal Computer. It will provide you guys with the platform-tools folder. Though it will be used throughout this guide.

Enable USB Debugging & OEM Unlocking

Actually, this process will make the device more notable by the PC in ADB mode. This will permit you guys to boot your device to Fastboot Mode. On the other hand, OEM Unlocking is actually needed to manage the bootloader unlocking process.

Open Settings > About Phone > Tap on Build Number 7 times > Again go to Settings > System > Advanced > Developer Options > Enable USB Debugging & OEM Unlocking.

Unlock Bootloader

Firstly, you should unlock the device’s bootloader. Remember that it will clear all the data from the device & also nullify its warranty.

Extract Pixel Stock Boot.img

  1. First of all, you should download the stock firmware [factory image] for the Pixel device. When it is downloaded on your device, so then bring it out to any convenient location on the Computer.
  2. Also, ensure sure to download the exact version that is now installed on the device. In order to check the same, go to Settings > About Phone > Build Number.
  3. Bring out the Images folder & also get hold of the boot.img file. Send this file to your device.

Patch Boot.img via Magisk

  1. Firstly, you should get the newest Magisk APK on your device.
  2. Set it up and click on the Install button available next to Magisk.
  3. Opt to ‘Select and Patch a File’, open the stock boot.img file, and choose it.
  4. Press the Let’s Go button located at the top right.
  5. Now the boot.img file will be patched & as well as placed just under the Downloads folder on the device.
  6. Send this file to the platform-tools folder on the Computer. Rename it to magisk_patched. Now we will be using this file in order to root your Pixel device running Android 13 by using Magisk.

Boot to Fastboot Mode

  1. Here you have to connect your device to the Personal Computer by using the USB cable. Ensure USB Debugging is enabled.
  2. Go to the platform-tools folder, copy and paste in CMD in the address bar, & press Enter. This will set up the Command Prompt.
  3. Copy and paste the below command in the CMD window in order to boot your device to Fastboot Mode
    adb reboot bootloader
  4. In order to check the Fastboot connection, copy and paste the following command.
    fastboot devices

Boot Android 13 using Magisk Patched Boot.img

Firstly, boot the device using the patched boot.img, in spite of directly flashing it. This way you guys can check in case everything is going well. You probably proceed to the permanent root. Copy and paste the following command in order to boot your device by using magisk patched boot.img. Thus get temporary root.

fastboot boot magisk_patched.img

Permanent Root Android 13 via Direct Install

Now that your device is booted without any issues with a temporary root, let’s now make this root permanent. So refer to the below instruction steps to try it out.

  1. To begin with, launch the Magisk Manager App.
  2. Then tap on Install > Direct Install (Recommended) and tap Let’s Go situated at the top-right.
  3. Once done, hit the Reboot button situated at the bottom right.
  4. That’s it.
